How to Change the Software of your Minecraft Server

It is possible that some files may become corrupted during the software change. Therefore, we recommend making a backup () first if there's anything you want to preserve. Then, we recommend clearing everything from the server before uploading the new software.

You have a section in the Control Panel where you can change the software or game hosted on your server. This section is called Software Changer and is located in the SERVER MANAGEMENT section.

Before starting the process, we recommend deleting all files on the server that are not of vital importance, as they may cause problems. If there are no files or folders that need to be kept, such as a world, plugins and/or their settings, mods, etcetera, we recommend deleting the files completely.

First you must choose the software you want to switch to and click the blue CHANGE EGG button. Once clicked you will see a popup similar to the following:

You can select the Reinstall Server option if you want the executable to be installed on your server of the new software so that the server can be opened. Note that this option will only replace the executable but will not delete any other files.

If you are switching from one Minecraft software to another Minecraft software we recommend, first of all, to go to the Startup section and (only) in the Minecraft Version field have the version of Minecraft you want to be installed. Make sure that the software you are going to install has as an option the version of Minecraft you want, which you can see in the official page of each software. Some of the official pages are:
